Harpers Ferry National Historical Park
Preparations for the Lewis and Clark Expedition occurred in several locations, but the leaders of the Corps of Discovery principally outfitted the Expedition at Harpers Ferry Armory and Arsenal. Marketechs was contracted by the National Park Service to fabricate and install exhibits telling this story. Housed in a building located within the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers’ flood plain, exhibit structures were developed to break down and be easily moved if the waters rose. Exhibits opened to celebrate the Bi-centennial of the Expedition and gave visitors insight into the preparations and planning of a feat rivaling the first moon landing.
